I don’t usually write much because even assuming more than a few readers stop to look at the accompanying text, even less are going to read walls of text. So as a general rule, I try to keep things as brief as possible.

However, I’m going to make an exception for today to mark the fact we’ve made a year. There was a stumble or two along the way (and the page a month schedule for about the first half of the year was hardly punishing) but no complete grinding to a halt and by the end, we did make a fortnightly and then weekly publishing rate for the best part right up to the end of 2017.

Of course, there’s more to it than just throwing up any random piece of artwork every week but believe it or not, building blocks are being laid for this all to be going somewhere eventually. Along the way, we have learned a lot about actually putting something together on a regular schedule that at least tries to pass as something approximating a webcomic.

About this page, the plan in the beginning was to try and have an arc a year for at least the first few years with Year One, Year Two and so on with every January 1st marking a new one. This date was to be marking the start of Year Two, not just in chronological terms but also story arcs.

Having gotten here, though both a combination of it being too arbitrary chronologically and in terms of the narrative, as well as the realities of production, I’m going to decouple the story from such benchmarks. The practicalities have been such that production and scripting really weren’t lending themselves so well to such timing. Like I said, it’s all been a hands-on learning experience.

For starters, we still have some more origin stories to cover, so don’t think you’ve missed out yet. The next phase should start sometime later in 2018. We’ll get there when we get there and it is all intended to be leading to a destination.

But we still have this fantastically rendered page by an exceptional artist made in advance for what we originally intended to be used now. I could have used it later in the year but I can’t think of any better use of it than to mark not just the new year but also one year of publication.

Featuring at least one representative of the most prominent entities to cross our paths out in the critical sphere (if the length of their forum topics is anything to go by), we’re now going back to new pages fortnightly (one every two weeks) for the foreseeable future. I’d like to publish more often but the realities of availability of artists and funds makes this approach more practical for now.

So the next page is on the 15th of January 2018 and then every second Monday after that. See you then!

… and yes, it’s all been fairly quiet up to now all things considered and that’s not escalating anytime soon but there is definitely a storm coming one day …
